Yoga & Nutrition Retreat with Iris Briand

Your Guide:

Iris Briand, R.D.

Iris Briand is a registered dietitian (R.D.) and Owner of Sol Food Nutrition. She  helps her clients through nutrition coaching, workshops with private clients, and in her position as a Clinical Dietitian at the Multnomah Family Care Center.  Iris is an active member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and Healthy Aging Dietetics Practice Group.

Iris develops solutions based on natural diet and lifestyle changes.  She has helped hundreds of clients navigate through a sea of dietary ‘misinformation’ to find easy-to-follow adjustments that lead naturally to better health.


March 1 : Fly to Mexico! Transport from airport in Puerto Vallarta to our beach home in Sayulita. Decompress from the travel & take in our surroundings. Group introductions & plan for the week. Dinner in town, Sunset on the beach!

March 2 : Morning Yoga ­ a practice for all levels. Breakfast at the house and free time for the beach/ocean adventures (Surfing, SUP, snorkel, sun bathe). Lunch followed by our first workshop  with Iris on Mindful Eating­ This session discovers Mindful Eating, a main piece of the puzzle for enhancing well­being. The workshop assists us in uncovering why society has slipped out of practicing mindful eating and teaches students how to develop skills to attain it. It also discusses the important factors it provides for health, well­being and assessing what we need to make positive/fun diet changes to live a more vibrant life. Evening free for dinner & exploring town.

March 3 : Morning Ocean time! Surf, SUP or Yoga on the beach, breakfast back at the house. Afternoon to explore and relax. Lunch followed by our second workshop  on Healthy Snacks­ In this exciting class we will get to delve into the importance of including energizing snacks throughout the day to promote happiness, focus, and endurance. We will prepare some snacks to help eliminate cravings and give us sustained energy. Then we will eat together and/or get to take the snacks with on our next ocean adventure!  Group Yoga  session before evening dinner.

March 4 : Morning Yoga ! Breakfast at the house and free time for the beach/ocean adventures (Surfing, SUP, snorkel, sun bathe). Lunch followed by our third workshop  on healthy fats/proteins, sauces & dressings­ we learn h  ow to prepare our own dressings, sauces and spice mixes for a fraction of the price, with ingredients you can pronounce, AND are incredibly beneficial for your health. This workshop also focuses on defining the role of healthy fats and proteins in our bodies and which ones to choose for optimal health.  To top it off we will enjoy a prepared dinner at the house to apply what we learned. Evening free to explore town and relax.

March 5:  Morning Ocean time! Surf, SUP or Yoga on the beach, breakfast at the house with our fourth workshop  on Grain and Sugar­Free Meals­ This class explores the reasons why we tend to gravitate towards sugar and refined carbs, due to habit, convenience, and physical dependence. By the end of the workshop you will be able to understand the main negative impacts that these foods have on our physical and mental/emotional health, including lowering our productivity, energy, and immune system function. We will then learn how to design meals without grains, reform the idea of “treats,” and implement a variety of satisfying and tasty choices. Lastly, we will try some gourmet samples of homemade foods. Free time around lunch and a late afternoon Group Yoga  session before evening dinner.

March 6:  Breakfast and prepare to head home. Closing circle and follow­up plans/resources to take what we learned and make the changes back at home. Say goodbye to beautiful Sayulita before heading to airport.

Who should sign up for this retreat?

All levels of yoga experience welcome. We offer sessions for beginners on through to the experienced practitioner. Yoga expertise is NOT NECESSARY! Come travel, play and have fun in our safe group dynamic. It’s the best way to travel and explore.
